About Us
Our team consists of Plan Fiduciary Advisors who serve Plan Fiduciaries (and the retirement plans that those Plan Fiduciaries sponsor). We’re not involved in wealth management or selling insurance. We focus on one thing: workplace retirement plans. Our passion is helping Americans retire better and our goal is to get every employee across the finish line. We’re benefits consultants and the benefits we provide are group retirement plans and financial wellness programs.
PHD. Leadership
The founder of PHD. Retirement Consulting is a thought leader in the industry on Behavioral Finance and plan design. He believes all employees matter because all people matter (not just the ones with the biggest account balance).
Troy Redstone
An 18-year veteran of the industry, Troy founded PHD. and serves our retirement plans as a Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA®), a Certified Behavioral Finance Analyst (CBFA®), a Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI®), and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®). His degrees are in Behavioral Psychology and Finance, which is essentially the study of why people do the stuff they do … with money. He doubled majored at The University of Alabama (B.A. in Behavioral Psychology and Journalism) before securing a Master of Divinity from Anderson University and pursuing an M.B.A. in Finance from Rockhurst University.
Troy is an author, featured speaker, and behavioral finance consultant. He enjoys working with employers to develop Financial & Organizational Health and Leadership Development. Serving employer-sponsored retirement plans of all sizes, his clients have included several Fortune 500 companies as well as a few Fortune 100 companies. He is currently the President of the Retirement Advisor Council as one of the top 401(k) plan advisors in the business and serves as the President and Chair of the Employee Benefits Institute (as of 2019).
Sometimes referred to as “The Dave Ramsey of 401k’s”, he enjoys promoting Financial Wellness by encouraging employees towards sound stewardship (eliminating debt BEFORE adding more money to the 401k). He has published articles in a variety of magazines and newspapers including The Miami Herald and The Today Paper and is the author of REPURPOSEMENT – Experiencing the Financial Freedom to Start Living on Purpose Today.
He’s a husband & dad, a college football fanatic and a volunteer at his church. He lives in Kansas City with his bride of 25 years, his college age son (when he’s home from K-State), and his college age daughter (when she’s home from Colorado Christian University) … and their Aussiedoodle.
